1. Pengertian Leave Taking

Leave Taking adalah ungkapan atau cara berpamitan ketika kita akan berpisah dengan seseorang, baik untuk sementara waktu maupun untuk selamanya.
Ungkapan ini bisa formal atau informal tergantung situasi dan lawan bicara.

2. Jenis Leave Taking

A. Formal Leave Taking (untuk guru, orang yang dihormati, situasi resmi)

• Goodbye.
• Farewell.
• Good night.
• It was nice meeting you.
• Have a nice day.
• See you tomorrow.

Contoh:

• Teacher: "Goodbye, students."
• Students: "See you tomorrow, Sir."

B. Informal Leave Taking (untuk teman sebaya atau keluarga dekat)

• Bye.
• See you later.
• See ya.
• Take care.
• Catch you later.
• Bye-bye.

Contoh:

• Friend A: "I’m going home now."
• Friend B: "Okay, see you later."

3. Respon terhadap Leave Taking

Jika seseorang berpamitan, kita membalas dengan ungkapan yang setara atau lebih ramah.

Contoh:

• A: "Goodbye." → B: "Goodbye, see you tomorrow."
• A: "Take care." → B: "You too."
• A: "See you later." → B: "See you."

4. Leave Taking sesuai Waktu

• Pagi sampai sore: Goodbye, See you later, Have a nice day.
• Malam hari: Good night, Sleep well, Sweet dreams.

5. Contoh Dialog

Situation: Two students after school

• A: "I have to go home now."
• B: "Okay, see you tomorrow."
• A: "Take care."
• B: "You too. Bye."
