ISAAC NEWTON

Isaac Newton FRS PRS (4 January 1643 – 31 March 1727[1]) was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, theologian and author who is widely regarded as one of the greatest mathematicians, physicists and most influential scientists of all time. He was a heliocentric theorist and the most influential scientist in history, and is often considered the father of classical physics.

His Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, published in 1687, is considered the most influential book in the history of science. It laid the foundations for classical mechanics. In it, Newton outlined the law of gravitation and the three laws of motion that would dominate the scientific view of the universe for three centuries. Newton demonstrated that the motion of objects on Earth and other celestial bodies is governed by the same set of natural laws.

He demonstrated this by showing the consistency between Kepler's laws of planetary motion and his theory of gravitation. His work ultimately dispelled scientists' doubts about heliocentrism and advanced the scientific revolution.(#)
